A Week in Pictures

*All Times Are Approximate*

Monday:
3:00pm- Arrive in Cancun.

4:12pm- Settle In.

Monnight:
10:15pm-Head to Daddy-o's. Slam nine or so shots with Zanner. Check out the princess pinky!

2:14am-Burn throat with flaming shot.

3:37am-Dance. Make mental note to quit snapping incessently while dancing.

Tuesday:
1:50pm-Partake in my favorite outdoor activity, sunbathing. Explore. While playing frisbee on the beach, the boys lose the aerobe in the ocean. They pout. Aw...

4:05pm-Try to recover from flaming shot by drinking beer, taking shots, and beating Zanner in Connecta Quatro! Jason finds glass shard in frozen Margarita...ew.

Tuesnight:
10:37pm-Taking it easy by...well, ok not quite taking it easy...

Wednesday:
2:15pm-Catch some rays on Punta Norte, Isla Mujeres. Can you see my grey hairs? Ay dios mio!

Wednesnight:
9:45pm-Balloon dancing at some nameless Corona bar. The fire eater was pretty cool. Start to develop deep affection for sangria. Jason pulls wire out of his mouth at dinner. Lose appetite.

2:24am- Try out some wrestling moves with new friends at The Bulldog.

Thursday:
11:15am-Take ferry back to Isla Mujeres.

12:53pm- Eat lunch at cute little beachside cafe. Order queso dip, get bowl of melted cheese. Don Julio cuts the grease.

2:30pm-Visit Punta Sur. Illegally climb ruined temple of Ix-Xhel, goddess of rainbows. Feel empowered.

3:50pm- Stop golf cart in middle of road and take pic with our new best friends, Phil and April Margera.

Thursnight:
10:47pm-Pay ridiculous amount to get into The City. Turned out to be actually a pretty cool club. DMX hosts, Fat Joe is a lameass (as usual), Clinton Sparx spins.

Friday:
10:02am- Arrive at Chichen-Itza. Listen to tour guide, Pepe (with stick) tell story of Maya Hero Twins. So Cool.

1:49pm- Wander among Group of the Thousand Columns. Pretend to be mayan maiden, whose true love is to play the ball game that night.

3:11pm- Eat lunch at "traditional" mexican restaurant, which is, of course, a buffet. Jason finds strange foreign object in food. Lose appetite again. Mexican dancers perform traditional folklore dance. Too fun!

5:25pm- Swim in ancient sinkhole called Cenote. Rumored (by Pepe) to be created from meteorite that killed the dinosaurs. Pepe, I don't know if that's true but you sure tell great stories.

Frinight:
11:12pm- Senor Frogs. Spring Break. Girls Gone Wild. Way Crazy. Too Crazy. Feel old. Leave depressed.

Saturday:
8:30am. Awake to first really sunny day. Pack up. Check out and proceed to fry on a lounge chair until time to leave. The boys discover missing aerobe in seaweed bed. Unbelievable.

3:15pm- Arrive at Cancun airport. Discover plane is an hour delayed in landing. Do some shopping.

Satur-night:
8:30pm- Arrive in Houston. Wait in (seemed like) three-hour long customs line. Miss connecting flight when computers go down. Feel frustrated when upon handing passports to official, he quickly stamps them, and hands them back. What did you need computer for, again?
9:45pm- Are informed by Continental Airlines representative that since delay was not "their fault", we would not be compensated for a hotel room. Moreover, the next flight out doesn't leave for another 24 hours.
1:30am- Check into $50 hotel room feeling dejected, frustrated, exhausted, and flaming from vicious sunburn. Also with mild case of Montezuma's Revenge.

Sunday:
10:30am- Wake from sleepless night. Get to airport early. Are placed on standby for earlier flight.
1:15pm- Get to gate. Flirt with check-in agent in a shameless attempt to get us home. Overhear him tell person on other end of phone that I am disabled and need to get on the flight. Are handed boarding passes. Ca-ching!
3:45pm- Touch down in New Orleans. Hallelujah! Home sweet home. Reach in purse for keys. Don't feel them. Empty purse on plane. Keys not in purse... Ok. Maybe in suitcase.
4:20pm- Empty out two huge suitcases on floor in middle of baggage claim. No keys. Try to call Mom. She doesn't answer. Have to call Derek. Feel like little girl. Begin bawling for help.
4:35pm- Call every locksmith in city. Are told no one can help us till six in the morning. Cry some more.
8:45pm- Please note time difference. Mom comes to my rescue, with a big hug and a ride home. Love ya, Mommy.
9:00pm- Call Pop-A-Lock to schedule the 6am appointment. Are told he can make it out in about an hour. Are shocked speechless, and yet somehow not surprised.
10:45pm- Arrive back up at airport. Meet guy. Get key. Pay $150.
11:30pm- Go home. High five upon realizing it's finally over.
12:05pm- Crash.

Lessons learned:
1. Don't Fly Continental.
2. Don't eat or drink anything in Mexico. If you simply must, make sure it has a sufficient amount of alcohol to kill the germs.
3. I actually like being outdoors, not for too long, not too hot, not too cold.
4. Aerobe's are amazingly resilient.
5. When perusing the mercado's, simply ignore them. Yo vivo aqui just doesn't work.
6. Don't stay in Houston. Not even overnight. The rooms are shabby, overpriced, and you can't smoke anywhere in the city.
7. Don't tip taxi drivers. It should be already included in the price you agreed on before getting in.
8. If you hear "We Got It", run in the other direction. It means they want to sell you bags of oregano and baby powder.
9. Bring a group of like-minded people. It is no fun to go to a dance club, and sit.
10. Wear sunscreen. That should have been a no brainer.
11.HAVE FUN
