R.I.P. Chris Benoit

Last night, I turned on WWE Raw with a sort of reluctance. I was expecting more incessant and meaningless ramblings about Mr. McMahon's "death", a rather weak storyline, if you ask me. Instead, I see Mr. McMahon in an empty arena, in the middle of the ring with a microphone. He tells us in a grave voice, Chris Benoit is dead. Not only is Benoit dead, his wife and his seven year old son are as well. I am shocked. I call Jason. He tells me to call Ray, our wrestling and general sports expert. I do. He confirms. I call Jason back to confirm. No way. We cannot believe it. The program was lengthened to three hours and dedicated to Chris Benoit. Nobody wrestles. It is a three hour sadfest. I tear up once when an announcer I despise, Jerry the King Lawler tells us to take a minute right now and tell the people in our lives that we love them. I tell my kitties. They keep giving us the bare minimum about the facts. Telling us Chris, his wife, ("Woman" for all you old school wrestling fans) and his son Daniel, were found in his suburban Atlanta home dead. They never say why or how. Jason says he wouldn't be surprised if Benoit murdered them and then killed himself. Ray says it was probably his wife. I call them silly but then today....

" Report: Benoit strangled wife, smothered son, then hung self
Associated Press
Updated: June 26, 2007, 3:09 PM ET

ATLANTA -- Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son. Steroid abuse has been linked to depression, paranoia, and aggressive behavior or angry outbursts known as "roid rage."

We know that Benoit who was scheduled to appear on last Sunday's PPV, canceled last minute, citing "personal reasons" causing the flaming Johnny Nitro to win the ECW championship belt. But what kind of personal reasons? Jason thinks maybe his wife was trying to leave him. I do not know and I probably never will.
I'm not here to judge. No one is. I don't even want to think about his horrifyng recent actions. It's a tragic event and very sad. I just want to remember and honor his talent and his career. After all, we lost one of the better wrestlers. Now who will break Booboo's (my affectionate nickname for Sabu) neck? Who will take swan dives from the top of ladders? Who will simultaneously intimidate us and demand respect from us? The loss to wrestling is great. As more and more of the old school guys go, we are left with the testosterone pumped soap opera that wrestling has become. Rest in peace, Chris Benoit. You will be missed greatly.

More About The Space Cowboys Ball...

1. Gunkata Demos

At the Space Cowboys Ball next month, I'll be demonstrating various gun-kata techniques and further cementing my reputation as a fierce warrior. To prepare you for this, I've included some info on the new art. Just so you don't walk by the demo because you don't know what you're missing...

"Gunkata is a close quarters gun-based martial art. It emphasises kata, or body positioning and movement excercises. This is important because each kata of Gunkata is designed for maximum effeciency in both lethal force and defense. Gunkata is based on a scientific analysis of bullet trajectory and range based on the mathematical possible outcomes of a gunfight.
Gunkata forms can be used soley as a form of meditation and self-centering. In civillian applications, Gunkata can greatly increase your chances of coming out a gun fight alive. Sports such as paintball are a good applictaion for Gunkata techniques without the use of deadly force. Gunkata also teaches how to disarm an armed opponent, and has forms for using a weapon that has run out of ammo."
From http://www.gunkatta.com/home.htm

In real gunkata combat, we use Berettas. For safety's sake I'll be using capped toy guns for the demo. But the idea is still the same.

A video for your viewing pleasure! yay!

2. Time Nullifiers

Sometimes called Day-Stretchers in the Outer Baronies, these small devices will be available for purchase and rental at the North Central Positronics Booth. Obtaining one will allow you to nullify time itself and stay ni the sheer funness for as long as you like! There are signifcant dangers regarding using these for an extended period of time. Note that these devices will only
declare the time of your own specific reality invalid. This will not work on other people's reality and there are strict consequences for misuse. Have fun and be careful!

3. Telepathic ProtoSymbiotes

These amazing creatures will be on display in the Nozz-a-la Petting Zoo. They are not for purchase but can be rented to tie a string around and carry around for an hour max. Due to the extremely volatile nature of these creatures, you will not be able to take pixel etchers or any other recording device into the zoo. You must surrender your weapons and recorders before taking a protosymbiote out. They will be returned to you upon returning the protosymbiote. Dystopian Con-Artists and Master Hackers are not elligible to rent.

PCB '07

Panama City Beach Florida, huh? Haven't been there since I was 14 or so. Well, ok. It will be awesome to see Hannah-banna-banana-bear.
Let's go.

We arrove (yes, past tense of arrive) at just after 4:30 CST. The room was surprisingly nice for a Quality Inn. We had a beachfront balcony, kitchen, and two beds for me to fall off of. Oh yes, I fell off each bed once. That proudly earned us a complaint every night. Thank you.

After we settled in, the boys went out to get some drinks. They came back with a beer bong. Oh great, I think. Here we go.

We had dinner at a mexican restaraunt right near the movie theatre. It was nice but the sangria was strangely different or not what i got in mexico or whatever. Oh yeah, and Jason tried to eat my face.

Saturday, we spent all day on the beach. The boys drank an entire 18 pack in about two hours. Then they were surprised to get a major headache...go figure. While they took naps, we went shopping for airbrushed tees. Pic of that coming soon.

I went out really, really far in the ocean. Are you proud of me? Actually, Hannah pulled me on a float while I screamed and she almost drowned. You're a great swimmer, Han.

After we woke the boys up and showered, we went to Spinnakers. There was a strange band playing. Sounded kind of like christian rock. bleah. Must go find some cool music before Mike falls asleep.

Hannah said I bypassed the buzz state and went straight from sober to drunk. Oops!
I suppose that's what a $200 bar bill will get you. Oh, this is us chair dancing.

So long PCB. It was a blast.

A String of Unrelated Notes

Here are my little book warriors. Ready to go out and begin their travels around the world. Or city, or state or whatever. More to come about that.

On an unrelated note, I had the most frightening migraine headache last night. Severe throbbing pain, sensitivity to light and sound, nausea. On top of that, I believe I started to freak myself out from the pain and I had a small panic attack complete with hyperventilation, uncontrollable trembling/shivering, and Jason sat in the bed with me, rubbing my back for an hour and a half while I layed their tossed, turned, cried, and generally flipped out. Thanks, honey. I believe these are "with-love-from-Dad" headaches. I am still suffering, though not as bad, today. Apparently, I am doomed to the worst parts of my parents genetics as well as the best. In a letter I wrote to him this morning, I said

"I am upset with you for passing down your genetic predisposition for killer migraines.I cant even begin to describe the pain I was in last night.how to fix this?"

This is what I received in return:

"I am traveling and have limited if any access to Email. I will reply ASAP when I return Friday 6/15/07."

Great. Thanks.

"only one way to cure a migrane

1. find a dark and quiet room

2. lay down and close eyes

3. sleep it off

sucks, doesn't it. could it be menstral?"

Women. Are you shaking your head right now? Yes, Woody Allen's character in Annie Hall. Anything could always be menstral.

On another unrelated note, I haven't ever talked about my digital crack. It's called The Sims 2. A computer game, that is so fun and addictive, I totally missed out on Japanfest because I sat down to play Saturday night and didn't look up at the clock until 3am. I've never done that before because I was trying to play a game that requires 512MB of RAM on a pc with 128MB. So, I installed me some extra memory and boy does it run fast. 100 times better at least. It's insanity. I need to find a happy medium. I blame the expansion pack, Seasons. Too fun.

On a completely unrelated side note, today begins the one week countdown until I meet Hannah in Panama City. Haven't been there since I was 15. Haven't seen Banana-bear in over a year. This should be fun. Look for pictures later.

Weekend Update

Sunday ,May 26th: Call me Dr. Greta...

Penny insists on scratching herself raw. I was forced to wrap a sock around her neck. Tell her she still looks pretty, she's a little self-concious.

Wednesday, May 30th: What I've Done to My Hair...

I highlighted it. I probably didn't leave it in long enough. Platinum highlights would look a little strange, no? Oh well. It's just hair. And nobody has noticed (save for J&S) so I guess it's not too bad...

Friday, June 1st: A Gunslinger Born...

Joy of joys. Guess what I found in the comic book store!

Are you ready for The Dark Tower by Marvel Comics? Please join me in drooling.

Saturday, June 2nd: A Brewery "Tour"
We ventured out to Abita Springs for a complimentary tour of the brewery.

Tour-Schmour. Let's just call this what it really is. Free beer!

Sunday, June 3rd: Book Crossing Registration

This is a box of books my mom gave to me to donate to the goodwill. But I have better plans for them...stay tuned for more book crossing updates.
